Zakat Compliance

Zakat Compliance at Fajr Horizons

At Fajr Horizons, we take our responsibility toward Zakat with the utmost seriousness. Zakat is one of the Five Pillars of Islam, and it must be used only as Allah ﷻ has commanded in the Qur’an.

Our Commitment

  • 100% Shariah-Compliant – All Zakat donations are handled strictly according to Islamic guidelines.

  • Restricted Use – Zakat funds will never be mixed with general donations or used for expenses not allowed under Islamic law.

  • Transparency – We ensure Zakat is distributed only to those eligible as outlined in the Qur’an.

Who Can Receive Zakat?

Allah ﷻ says in the Qur’an:

“Zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed for it and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise."
(Surah At-Tawbah 9:60)

Based on this, Zakat at Fajr Horizons may be used to support:

  • The poor and needy (food, clothing, shelter).

  • Those in debt and seeking stability.

  • Formerly incarcerated Muslims rebuilding their lives.

  • Stranded or traveling individuals in need.

  • Other categories listed in the Qur’an, as applicable.

Separation of Funds

  • Zakat funds are tracked separately from other donations.

  • Non-Zakat donations (Sadaqah, general support) may fund other community services, administration, and growth.

  • Zakat is never used for salaries, marketing, or overhead unless directly permissible under the category of “those employed to collect it.”

Why This Matters

By entrusting Fajr Horizons with your Zakat, you can be confident that your obligation to Allah is fulfilled properly and your donation is reaching those who truly qualify.
